As much as we care about creating products, we also care about people and the environment.
As the words "sustainable" and "SDGs" have become widespread, there is now a worldwide need for environmentally friendly and sustainable manufacturing. With this environmental conservation in mind, BONAVENTURA promotes continuous improvement activities to further reduce the impact on the environment.
Passion and commitment to leather
Selecting the highest quality leather with consideration for the global environment
Certified Leather
All of the leather used at BONAVENTURA is sourced from tanners certified by Leather Working Group or Oeko-Tex®. Both certifications have in common that no harmful chemicals or prohibited substances are used, and the standards for leather degreasing and tanning processes are strictly evaluated to protect the environment. In addition to main leather, we also purchase smooth leather and nylon only from reliable sources.
Consideration for the global environment
All of the leather used at BONAVENTURA is made from 100% livestock byproducts. Animal skin, which is generated as a byproduct of livestock farming, generates a large amount of greenhouse gas and requires energy when disposed of by incineration, but by tanning it in a tanner, it can be reborn as a product called leather, and even after it is disposed of, it can be returned to nature 100%. We fully utilize sustainable "natural leather" tanned by tanners with state-of-the-art equipment for a variety of leather products such as leather items and bags. We are constantly researching and developing materials that are more environmentally friendly.

Switching to environmentally friendly materials
Shopping bags
Currently, BONAVENTURA is starting a project to switch the materials of shopping bags to FSC® certified materials. FSC® certification is an international forest certification system that promotes responsible forest management that takes into account the animals and plants in the forest, the people who work there, and the people who live there, and maintains a rich forest in the future. By switching to this material, you can contribute to preserving the world's forests.
Packaging
BONAVENTURA's signature red box is now made from 50% recycled paper. We are currently working on a project to change to 100% renewable materials. Additionally, our shipping boxes are made from 100% recycled paper, minimizing the use of plastic materials in our packaging.
Aftercare
Initiatives and services that allow you to use items longer
BONAVENTURA provides consultation and support for repairs, as well as care and storage methods for all of our products. This is because by allowing customers to enjoy and use our products for a longer period of time, we can reduce our impact on the environment. In addition to accepting repairs, we also have a full range of leather care (maintenance supplies) that can be used for our own products, and we also provide information on how customers can easily care for their own products.

Close relationships and responsible choices
BONAVENTURA only employs fair trade factories that manufacture products at fair prices and labor, as well as suppliers with a high awareness of sustainability. The raw materials used in all of our factories are only certified by BONAVENTURA, and we pay close attention to every detail, including the smallest metal parts used in each product. Each supplier's initiatives vary, but they are engaged in a wide range of activities, including consideration of environmental pollution such as testing for pollutants and reducing CO2 emissions in accordance with Europe's strict environmental standards, issues of human rights and social status, and using solar power to power the factory itself.
